Error 5461: You may not create new ASINs for the brand
Amazon returned this error to block creating new ASINs under the named brand. Amazon enforces this when the brand has restrictions in place — typically to protect Brand Registry-enrolled brands or to prevent unauthorized sellers from listing under them.
Why it happens
- Brand protection policies. The brand has restricted unauthorized sellers from creating new listings under its name.
- Lack of authorization. You don't have approval from the brand owner or Amazon to create new ASINs for this brand.
- Compliance issues. Past policy violations have resulted in limited permissions for listing new products under this brand.
- Brand Registry enrollment. The brand is part of Amazon Brand Registry, which applies stricter control over the creation of new listings.
How to fix it
- Confirm you're authorized to sell under this brand. If you're a reseller, get written authorization from the brand owner.
- If you own the brand, enroll in Amazon Brand Registry.
- If the product already exists on Amazon, list it as an Offer Listing against the existing ASIN instead of creating a new one.
- If the restriction looks incorrect, open a case with Amazon Seller Support to challenge it.
