A title template controls how the text fields of your eBay listings are built from your Shopify product data. Despite the name, it maps three connected fields: the listing Title, the Subtitle, and the Description. Setting these mapping rules once and reusing the template is what keeps your titles and descriptions accurate, eye-catching, and consistent across your catalog, which improves your visibility and saves you from writing each listing by hand.
You create one on the Templates page by opening Add New Template and choosing Title, which opens the Create Title Template form.
Template name
Give the template a unique name in the Template name field. This is how you'll find and select it across the app, so make it clear enough to recognize among your other templates.
Title
The Title section maps your eBay listing title to your Shopify data, which improves accuracy and helps your products surface in eBay search. Using the Mapping options for the title field dropdown, you choose which Shopify attribute fills the eBay title, such as the product Title. This decides what source data becomes your eBay title rather than retyping titles manually.
Below the mapping is a Trim Title checkbox. eBay titles have an 80-character limit, and enabling Trim Title automatically shortens any title that runs longer than that.
Set Subtitle
The Set Subtitle toggle adds an optional eBay subtitle to your listings. A subtitle is extra descriptive text that can improve how findable your listing is, and when the toggle is on, you map it using the Mapping options for subtitle field dropdown, choosing the Shopify attribute that should populate it.
Description
The Description section maps the body of your eBay listing. Through the Mapping options for description field dropdown, you choose which Shopify attribute fills the eBay description, typically the product Description. This carries your existing product copy across to eBay.
For more control, this field also supports a Set Custom Values option, which lets you insert your own custom description or HTML code instead of, or in addition to, the mapped attribute. This is how you tailor the look and feel of your eBay descriptions.
Product Dimensions
The Product Dimensions toggle lets you assign the item's size, which eBay uses to calculate accurate shipping costs and avoid unexpected fees or delays. When it's on, you enter the Length, Width, and Height, and choose the Unit of measurement. Providing accurate dimensions is what enables calculated shipping to work correctly, so it's worth completing for items where shipping is priced by size.
Saving the template
Once your mappings and options are set, select Save to create the template.
