How to Create a Product Template

How to Create a Product Template

Product Setting

When creating a new Product Template, the first step is to define the Product Settings. This includes naming your template, selecting which products will be assigned, and applying any price rules. Templates help streamline product categorization and syncing with Facebook Catalog.
  1. Template Name (Required)
    1. Enter a name for your template.
    2. The name should be descriptive (e.g., Clothing Template, Electronics Template).
    3. Limit: Maximum 80 characters.
Notes
Use clear names so you can easily recognize templates when managing multiple ones.
  1. Product Selection Criteria (Rule Group): Choose which products will be assigned to this template:
    1. All Products:
      1. Assigns every product in your store to this template.
      2. Example: If you want one universal template for the whole catalog.
    2. Selected Product:
      1. Let's you assign specific products only.
      2. Useful if you want separate templates for different categories (e.g., one for Shoes, another for Accessories).
Condition Logic
When selecting the Selected Product, you can define specific rules:
Select “Any Condition” to fetch the product(s) fulfilling any of the conditions created.
Select “All Condition” to fetch the product(s) fulfilling all the conditions created.
Click on “Add More” to add multiple conditions in the Rule Group.
Click on “Run Query” to fetch the number of the product(s) based on the Rule Group(s) created.

You can also click on Override Existing Products. This means if you have assigned a product to this Category, and it happens to be included in some other category as well. The app will override the previous category and place the products in this new category.

Price Update

This feature lets you adjust product prices before syncing them to Facebook Catalog.
  1. Price Setting Options:
    1. None → No change, Shopify product prices will be synced as they are.
    2. Increase/Decrease by Fixed Amount → Add or subtract a set amount from the product price.
    3. Increase/Decrease by Percentage → Adjust prices by a percentage.
  2. Price Field:
    1. Enter the adjustment value (e.g., +10 to add $10, or -5% to reduce price by 5%).

  1. Once you’ve entered all details, click Next ➝ to move to the Mapping step, where you assign product attributes to Facebook fields.
  2. You can always go back and edit these settings later.
Notes
If you manage multiple product categories, create separate templates with different pricing rules and category mappings for better control and optimized ad performance.

After defining your Product Settings, the next step is Mapping. This ensures that your Shopify products are correctly categorized and their attributes are matched with Facebook Catalog requirements.

Select Shopify Warehouse(s)

  1. You must select at least one Shopify warehouse location for inventory sync.
  2. All warehouses from your Shopify store are listed here.
Selecting the correct warehouse ensures accurate stock availability sync with the Facebook Catalog.

Category Mapping

  1. Map your Shopify product category to the most relevant Facebook Category.
  2. This step is mandatory since Facebook requires product categorization for ads and shop listings.
Notes
Choose the closest available Facebook category to improve product discoverability in ads and listings.

Attribute Mapping

  1. Facebook requires certain attributes for products (like Brand, GTIN, MPN).
  2. In this section, you can map Shopify attributes to the corresponding Facebook Recommended Attributes.

Finalizing the Template

  1. After completing mappings:
    1. Click Create to save the template.
    2. Or use Previous to return to the Product Settings step.
Your products will now sync with Facebook Catalog following the rules, category, and attribute mappings defined in this template.
