Order Management Settings
The Order Management section helps you synchronize and manage orders between Etsy and Shopify. This ensures smooth processing, status updates, and customer communication across platforms. Below is a detailed explanation of each setting available under this section.
Shopify Settings
1. Cancel/Refund Orders
Enable this option to automatically reflect canceled or refunded Etsy orders in Shopify.
This ensures that Shopify order statuses stay up-to-date with Etsy.
2. Shopify Order Name as Etsy Receipt ID
When enabled, this replaces the Shopify Order Name with the Etsy Receipt ID in the Shopify order section.
You can customize the format using a prefix and a suffix. Example: Prefix (Receipt ID) Suffix
like etsy113883ID
.
3. Send Note to Shopify in Order
You can customize what kind of message gets passed to Shopify for each Etsy order. Drag and drop the following options in the order you prefer:
Gift Message: Used when a buyer marks the order as a gift on Etsy.
Buyer Message: A custom message entered by the buyer during checkout.
Custom Message: A fallback message used when no message is available from the buyer.
This message will appear in the order notes section on Shopify.
4. Disable Etsy Tax for All Country
When this is enabled, Etsy’s tax amount will not be passed to your Shopify store. This can help avoid double taxation when syncing the same order data to both platforms.
Note: In the screenshot, this toggle is disabled.
5. Order Tax Split Setting
The Order Tax Split Setting allows you to apply custom tax values for specific countries and control how taxes are split across products. This feature ensures accurate tax handling when syncing Etsy orders with Shopify, especially if Etsy collects taxes directly.
You can:
Select countries from a dropdown list.
Enter the tax percentage for each.
You can add multiple country-specific tax rates using the + Add Tax button.
This is useful when selling internationally and complying with regional tax laws.
Are Taxes Included
- Enable this option if your product prices already include taxes.
- When checked, the app treats the tax value as included in the product price and applies the specified percentage accordingly.
- This prevents double taxation during the order sync process.
Line Item
- When selected, tax splitting is applied to the cost of ordered items (products).
- Example: If a buyer purchases an item worth $50 and a 10% tax applies, $5 will be calculated and assigned as tax on the product cost.
Shipping Cost
- Enable this to apply tax splitting to shipping fees if you are collecting some taxes directly from Etsy.
- This ensures the shipping cost reflects the appropriate taxes if Etsy collects shipping-related taxes separately.
- Works together with Are Taxes Included to calculate total order taxes accurately.
6. Shopify Order Tags
Add custom tags (up to 10) that will be attached to Shopify orders created from Etsy orders.
This helps in filtering and managing synced orders within Shopify more efficiently.
7. Manage Shopify shipment from the app
This setting helps you manage Shopify shipments from the app, while also sharing details on Etsy such as tracking ID for the client.
- You can choose to ship order on Etsy without tracking number.
However, it is only possible for orders less than $10, due to certain US regulations. - You can also choose to receive a copy of the fulfillment update, that will help you inform the buyer as well.
- OPTIONAL: Add a note to your buyer, thanking them or in case you need to leave them any instructions regarding the product.
Note: Orders without Tracking IDs won't be marked complete on Etsy.
Shopify Shipping Method as Etsy Shipping Profile Name
If no shipping method is available in the Etsy order, this setting ensures that the Etsy shipping profile name is passed as the shipping method in Shopify.
8. Map Etsy with Shopify Shipping Method Mapping
This allows you to link Etsy shipping methods with their corresponding Shopify shipping methods.
When an Etsy order imports into Shopify, the app uses this mapping to match the Etsy shipping method to the correct Shopify shipping method.
This ensures:
- Accurate shipping labels
- Smooth fulfillment process
- No manual intervention for mismatched shipping methods
How It Works
Etsy Shipping Method
Choose the shipping method used by on Etsy (e.g., Overnight – Purchase by 2:00 PM CST).
Shopify Shipping Method
Set the equivalent Shopify shipping method (e.g., Fast Ship).
Action
Use the delete icon to remove a mapping if it’s no longer needed.
Purpose: To ensure preferred shipping labels on Shopify and Etsy, simplifying order processing.
Etsy Settings
You can choose between two modes:
- Manage Orders – Enables order syncing and management features.
- Manage Inventory – Enables inventory syncing only.
Important: Only one mode can be active at a time. Switching between modes requires saving the setting and refreshing the page to load the relevant features.
Choose Your Management Mode
Option 1: Manage Orders through the App
Enable this option if you want to:
- Sync Etsy orders into Shopify.
- View and manage Etsy orders directly from the app’s Orders section.
When this is active the Orders page will appear in the left-hand menu.
You can perform bulk actions like shipping orders, syncing order statuses, and creating orders on Shopify. Know more about order management

Option 2: Manage Inventory through the App
Enable this option if you only need to:
- Sync inventory levels between Shopify and Etsy.
- Ensure stock quantities stay updated across both platforms without syncing orders.

- Switching Modes: To switch, update your selection, save, and refresh the page.
Manage Etsy Shipment from the App

1. Enable Manage Etsy Shipment: Turn this setting ON to activate shipment syncing.
Once enabled, all shipment details, including tracking numbers and carrier names, will be sent from Shopify to Etsy as you fulfill orders.
2. Default Carrier Name to Be Sent on Etsy
Use this dropdown to select a default shipping carrier that will be sent to Etsy if Shopify does not provide one.
This ensures Etsy receives valid tracking information even when Shopify’s shipment data is incomplete (e.g., blank or missing carrier names).
Example: If Shopify leaves the carrier field empty, the selected default (like “USPS” or “FedEx”) will be used.
3. Map Shopify with Etsy Carrier Mapping
This section lets you match Shopify shipping carriers with Etsy carriers for accurate and seamless syncing.
Why use Carrier Mapping?
Shopify and Etsy may have different carrier names (e.g., “USPS” in Shopify might be “United States Postal Service” in Etsy). Mapping ensures the correct carrier name appears on Etsy, reducing shipment update errors and improving tracking accuracy.
How to Add a Mapping:
Click + Add Carrier Mapping.
Select the Shopify carrier from the dropdown.
Choose the corresponding Etsy carrier.
Save the mapping.
Once saved, every time an order with the mapped Shopify carrier is fulfilled, the correct Etsy carrier will automatically be used.
- Without a default carrier or mapping, Etsy may reject shipment updates if the carrier field is blank.
- You can edit or delete mappings anytime by accessing the carrier mapping list.
