TikTok Policies

The TikTok Policies section allows you to create, manage, and assign all operational policies that control how your products, prices, inventory, orders, and synchronization behave between your Magento store and TikTok Shop.

Policies act as rule sets that automate how data flows between systems. Once configured, these policies are applied at the account level or the listing template (product) level to ensure consistent behavior across your catalog.
Click Add Policy to create a new policy. 

You can create policies for the following types: 
  1. Image Policy 
  2. Inventory Policy
  3. Pricing Policy
  4. Order Policy
  5. Synchronization Policy  

Policy Page Grid 

  1. ID: Unique system identifier for the policy.
  2. Title: The name of the policy (e.g., Default Image Policy, Seasonal Pricing Policy). Use clear titles to easily recognize policy intent.
  3. Is Default: Shows whether the policy is the system default. 
    1. Yes: This policy is automatically pre-selected for assignments
    2. No: This is a custom policy created by the user 
  4. Type: Defines what kind of behavior the policy controls.
    1. Image: Product image sync rules
    2. Inventory: Stock update logic
    3. Pricing: Price calculation and push rules
    4. Order: Order import and processing behavior
    5. Synchronization: Data polling and background sync frequency 
  5. Created On: Date and time when the policy was originally created.
  6. Updated On: Last modification timestamp for the policy.
  7. Status: Shows whether the policy is currently usable.
    1. VALID: Policy is active and can be assigned
    2. INVALID: Policy setup is incomplete and cannot be used
  8. Action: Use Edit to: 
    1. Modify existing policy rules
    2. Adjust sync behavior
    3. Update pricing or inventory logic

Types of TikTok Policies Explained 

Here’s what each policy type controls:

Image Policy 

Controls:
  1. Number of images sent to TikTok
  2. Whether to replace existing TikTok images
  3. Image fallback rules 

Inventory Policy

Controls: 
  1. Stock buffer settings
  2. Overselling prevention
  3. Quantity synchronization frequency 

Pricing Policy

Controls:  
  1. Price markup or markdown
  2. Currency adjustment
  3. Rounding rules 

Order Policy

Controls: 
  1. Automatic order import
  2. Order acknowledgement behavior
  3. Order processing automation

Synchronization Policy

Controls: 
  1. Data sync frequency
  2. Background job scheduling
  3. Retry logic for failed syncs 
Once assigned:
  1. Policies apply automatically to all linked products
  2. No manual updates are required unless policy logic is changed 

Best Practices 

  1. Keep one stable default policy per type
  2. Use custom policies for special campaigns or regions
  3. Always verify the policy status is VALID before assigning
  4. Avoid frequent changes to Order & Sync policies during live operations
  5. Review the Updated On dates before making new changes
