Shopify Markets for TikTok Shop

Shopify Markets for TikTok Shop

What this does

Shopify Markets lets you sell in each region's local price and language on TikTok Shop. You connect one Shopify Market to one TikTok Shop. From then on, that account's TikTok listings use the market's prices, in the market's currency, and its translated title and description, instead of your store default.

Before this, the connector sent your store's default price and English content to every TikTok Shop, so a UK Shop received USD-based amounts labelled GBP. Now each mapped account gets its own market values.

For example, a store selling in USD with a United Kingdom market connected to a TikTok UK Shop. A shoe priced $15 in the store and £13 in the UK market lists on TikTok UK at £13 with its French title.

Two things to know up front:
  1. It is per account. TikTok Shops without a market connected keep working exactly as before.
  2. Your manual edits always win. Anything you override on a product beats the market value.

Before you start

You need:
  1. A Shopify Market. In Shopify admin: Settings > Markets. At least one active market with its countries and currency. If the market should sell only some of your products, attach a catalog to it.
  2. Translations (optional). Open the market's language, and run Auto-translate (or translate manually). Only translated products can send translated content to TikTok. Auto-translate takes a few minutes per batch, so do this before importing.
  3. A connected TikTok Shop, ideally selling in the market's currency. A different currency shows a warning but still works.
  4. A category template for the products you plan to upload. It supplies the package weight and dimensions TikTok requires.

Step 1: Turn the feature on

  1. Select the correct TikTok Shop account in the top account switcher.
  2. Go to Configurations > Product Settings > Shopify Markets.
  3. Switch on Enable Shopify Markets sync.

The switch applies only to the account you are viewing. With several TikTok Shops, you enable and configure each one on its own, so your UK Shop can use the UK market while your US Shop stays on standard prices.

Step 2: Connect your market to your TikTok Shop

  1. On the same page, open the Shopify Market dropdown. The app pulls your live market list from Shopify. Use the refresh button if you just created a market.
  2. Pick the market that matches this TikTok Shop, for example, United Kingdom (GBP) for your TikTok UK Shop.
  3. Each market connects to one TikTok Shop, and each TikTok Shop to one market.

If the market's currency differs from the TikTok Shop's currency, the app shows a warning and saves the connection anyway. Syncing continues, with amounts in the market's currency. Matching the currencies is the cleaner setup.

Step 3: Choose what to sync

Three switches control what the app imports and sends for this account:
  1. Market price: market prices and compare-at prices are imported and used wherever prices go to TikTok.
  2. Translated title: the market-language title is used on TikTok listings.
  3. Translated description: the same for the description.
Then pick the import mode, which decides which products get market data:
  1. All products: every product in your store gets market data.
  2. Catalog products only: only products in the market's catalog get market data. The rest keep standard values.
  3. Catalog only, remove unlisted: same as above, and the app also clears its records for products outside the catalog. It never touches products already live on TikTok.

If your market has no language set in Shopify, the translation switches have nothing to translate into. Prices still sync.

Step 4: Bring the market data in

  1. Click Save. Saving a new market connection starts an import in the background.
  2. For a full run, or to re-import later, click Import. A progress bar appears under Activities > Current Activity.
The progress bar tracks prices. Translations arrive a few minutes later, because Shopify prepares them as a background export. Translated titles showing up shortly after the bar finishes is expected.

Step 5: Read your product grid

The grid keeps showing the standard values you are used to. Market data shows as a small ℹ️ icon next to a value, and only when that product has a market value for that field:
  1. Hover the ℹ️ on the title → Shopify UK: [translated title].
  2. Hover the ℹ️ on the price → Shopify UK: 13.0 – 42.0 GBP (the market price range).
  3. No icon means no market value for that field. A product with market prices but no translation shows the icon on the price only.
The label ("UK") follows whichever market you connected. Expand a product's variants and each variant row shows its own market price tooltip.

One caveat: variant tooltips ride on grid navigation. If you hard-refresh the page directly on a variant view, the tooltips drop until you navigate back into the grid.

Step 6: Filter by market data

The filter panel has Shopify Market: Yes / No. It appears only on accounts with a market connected and enabled:
  1. Yes: products that have market data for this account.
  2. No: products without market data, useful for spotting what is outside the catalog or not yet imported.
The counters in the top tabs (All, Not Uploaded, Live, and so on) do not change with panel filters. That is how every grid filter behaves. The product list and page count below do follow your filter.

Step 7: Refresh one product

Translated a product, changed its market price, or re-added it to the catalog? Refresh that one product instead of re-importing everything:
  1. Find the product, open its ⋮ (three-dots) menu.
  2. Click Refresh Market.
  3. You see "Market data refresh scheduled, values update shortly." The fresh data appears on the next grid load, within a few seconds.

Refresh Market only updates the data inside the app. It does not change your TikTok listing on its own. The listing updates on the next upload or price sync. The action is visible only on mapped and enabled accounts.

Step 8: The product edit page

The edit page works on the same principle. You edit standard values, and market values are shown for reference:
  1. ℹ️ icons on Title, Description, and Price (or Compare At Price, depending on your price setting) show the market values on hover, for the product and per variant.
  2. Anything you type becomes your override, and your overrides always beat market values when pushing to TikTok.
  3. The ↻ revert button on a field resets it to the standard Shopify value and removes your override.
If you see ↻ revert buttons on rows you never edited: an earlier app version could store market prices as overrides. Since overrides win, those can go stale. Click ↻ on those rows and save so live market prices flow again.

Step 9: Upload products to TikTok

Upload is unchanged: assign a category template, then upload. What lands on TikTok for a market-connected account:
  1. Title and description: the translated versions, when they exist and the switches are on.
  2. Prices: the market price for every variant, in the market currency. If your price setting prefers Compare At, the market compare-at is used.
  3. Any price markup you set applies on top of the market price, as usual.
Two things stay in the original language on purpose. Variant option values (like colour names) are not translated, because Shopify does not auto-translate them, and mixing a translated label with an untranslated value reads as broken (Couleur: Red). Also confirm your category template carries package weight and dimensions, since TikTok requires them.

Step 10: Keeping prices in sync

Once a product is live on TikTok, its market price stays in sync:
  1. Automatic: change a price in Shopify and the TikTok listing updates with the new market price within moments. The app pushes twice, first with the last-known market price so buyers never see a standard-price flash, then again with the freshly fetched one.
  2. Manual: select products in the grid and run Sync Price from the bulk actions. Market prices are used.
  3. Settings change: when you change your Price Sync Preference or Custom Pricing and choose "Apply to all existing products," the new rule is applied on your market prices.

Good to know and current limits

  1. Translations that change after a product is live do not update the TikTok listing on their own yet. Re-upload the product, or edit it in Shopify, to push the new content. (A text edit re-pushes prices right away; the new content lands on the next re-upload.)
  2. Shopify does not notify the app when translations or catalog membership change. The app picks those up on the product's next edit, via Refresh Market, or on a re-import.
  3. Option values are not translated or pushed (see Step 9). Translated option names are stored but not shown or sent.
  4. Variant weight edits in Shopify do not sync. Set package weight in the app's category template, which is what reaches TikTok anyway.
  5. Market changes in Shopify (a market disabled, deleted, or reconfigured) are not detected automatically in this release. Update or re-save the affected mapping from the settings page. The Refresh action reloads the live market list.
  6. TikTok enforces its own per-category limits, such as a maximum price and package weight caps. A listing can be market-correct and still be rejected. The error shows on the product row and usually names the limit. Fix the value or the template and upload again.
  7. Shopify admin may show a raw pre-rounding conversion (for example £12.54) while the stored, buyer-facing price is the rounded value (£13.00). That is a display difference, not an error.
