Step 03: Basic Configuration

This step allows you to configure your product settings by selecting categories and mapping attributes. You can always change these settings later.

Without configuring these settings, you won’t be able to import products.

Authentication Callback

You’ll get a ‘Copy Token’ pop up that contains ‘Callback URL’ and ‘Token’ that are utilized for syncing webhooks. This helps with data syncing across platforms and reflects any changes to your products in almost real-time. You need to paste the URL and token in your Webook configuration panel on Gear Exchange.


How to Set Up Webhook Notifications? 

  1. Go to API Settings in your Gear Exchange portal
  2. Click on ‘Set up Webhooks’ button to open the Webhook Configuration panel
  3. Paste the URL and Token
  4. Select ‘Listing status change’ and ‘Order status change’ 
  5. Click on Save

Category Selection


Select the best category path that matches your products you want to import from Shopify.

Warning
If no category is selected, an error message will appear.

Required Attributes

The Required Attributes section allows you to define essential listing details that ensure your product is successfully imported and then published on Gear Exchange. These attributes include product condition, brand information, shipping and pickup preferences, and return policy. Configuring these fields correctly ensures compliance with marketplace requirements and improves listing accuracy, visibility, and buyer confidence.

Once a category is selected:
  1. Required fields must be filled out to proceed.
  2. Optional fields are visible but do not block progress.


  1. Product Condition: Select the condition that best describes your product to ensure accurate listing quality on Gear Exchange.
  2. Brand: Choose the brand of the Shopify product you’re importing. You can also choose to enter a custom brand name. 
  3. Allow Shipping: Choose whether you’ll provide shipping for this product or not. 
  4. Allow Local Pickup: Choose whether local (or shop) pickup is available for this product or not. 
  5. Return Policy: Choose the number of days in which the product can be returned by the buyer. 

Optional Attributes

The Optional Attributes section allows you to further customize and enhance your product listings on Gear Exchange. These fields let you specify details such as minimum offer value, product age, sales eligibility, and shipping cost. Configuring these options helps improve listing visibility, optimize buyer targeting, and increase chances of successful conversions.



  1. MPN: Enter the Manufacturer Part Number to uniquely identify the item.
  2. Left-Handed Instrument: Specify if the product (musical instrument) is designed for left-handed users (e.g., guitars).
  3. Allow Offers from Buyers: Enable this to allow buyers to submit offers below the listed price.
  4. Minimum Acceptable Offer: Set the minimum acceptable offer; offers lower than the set value will be automatically rejected. 
  5. Include in Sale Events: Allow this listing to participate in Gear Exchange promotional sale events.
  6. Maximum Sale Discount: Define the maximum discount percentage on your product during Gear Exchange promotional sale events. 
  7. Decade of Manufacturing: Indicate the decade when the item was manufactured for vintage relevance.
  8. Year of Manufacturing: Specify the exact year the item was created. 
  9. Shipping Cost: Set a fixed shipping cost that will be applied to the listing.
  10. Buyer Payment Method: Choose the payment method that will buyers will use while purchasing this item. 

More Field Information:

  1. If required fields are missing, you'll see an error.
  2. Optional fields can be left blank, and the form can still be saved.
  3. Some fields have specific validations:
    → A Custom brand cannot contain only numbers or special characters.
    → Custom shipping cost must be numeric (letters are not allowed).

  1. Link Shipping Carriers: You can add multiple Shopify shipping carriers and map them with Gear Exchange carriers for a smooth and error-free fulfillment process.

Advanced Configuration

  1. Dependent fields appear based on attribute selections (e.g., shipping cost fields show if the shipping method is selected).
  2. You can map Gear Exchange carriers to Shopify carriers.
    --> Multiple carrier mappings are supported.
  3. Attributes are collapsible/expandable for better usability.
  4. Categories can be changed at any time using the dropdown.
Once done with your attribute settings, click on ‘Save’ to finalize your product import and syncing settings. When all required fields are filled, clicking Save shows a success message. This marks the completion of your onboarding process.
Notes
After saving, you will be redirected to the dashboard. If needed, you can also log out using the available option to end your session.
