Understanding GPSR Compliance

Understanding GPSR Compliance

GPSR compliance is one of the new additions to the compliance protocol introduced by Europe for its eCommerce sellers in the region. Complying with this regulation requires an EU-based Responsible person and increased product safety rules to ensure consumer protection on the platform.
With the enhanced functionality of our integration app, you can now ensure product compliance effectively and easily.

Why GPSR

  1. Increased emphasis on risk management for improved customer satisfaction.
  2. Enhanced technical documentation with detailed risk assessment and safety measures.
  3. Market surveillance and cooperation are needed to improve the ability to identify and mitigate risks before products reach customers.

Reasons to introduce the GPSR in the App

  1. Simplified Compliance: GPSR rules can be complicated. By adding this feature to the app, sellers can handle compliance easily without having to switch between different systems.
  2. Centralized Management: Sellers can enter and update important GPSR information, like safety data and responsible person details, all in one place in the app.
  3. Risk Management: The app helps sellers upload necessary documents and assessments to check product safety early on, reducing risks before products are sold.
  4. Better Prepared for Inspections: By keeping product information accurate, sellers are more ready to work with authorities if they check for compliance, reducing the risk of fines or disruptions.
  5. Easier Account Selection: The app makes it easy for sellers to select the correct account for each product, ensuring the right compliance for each store.
  6. Saves Time: The app automates many compliance tasks, so sellers can focus more on running their business instead of dealing with paperwork.
  7. Ready for Future Changes: As European regulations change, the app helps sellers stay up to date and compliant with new rules, keeping them competitive.
By integrating GPSR compliance management into the app, we enable sellers to navigate complex regulations confidently and efficiently, ensuring business continuity and consumer safety.

1. Independent of the Product

  1. Click on GPSR, which is available under the Products tab on the left panel of the app.

  1. Now, on the page that opens, you will be able to review and edit the information of already added GPSR details of your products.

  1. Let’s say, you wish to edit the Manufacturer details of a product.
  2. In order to do so, click on the details that you wish to edit.
  3. On the pop-up that appears, edit the required details and click on Upload.
  4. Your details will be altered, as per the data filled by you.

You can follow the same steps to review/edit uploaded documents, responsible persons, and product safety details.
  1. You can also add GPSR data for a new product.
  2. Click on the Add GPSR Data button on the top right-hand side corner of the app.

  1. From the dropdown menu, select the details to be shared.

  1. Manufacturer Details: The manufacturer must clearly state its full name or registered trade name to establish accountability and help consumers identify the product's source. If the business operates under a specific registered trade name or trademark, this must also be displayed to maintain consistency in brand recognition. Accurate and accessible contact details are crucial; hence manufacturers are required to provide their complete postal address. This ensures that customers, authorities, or other stakeholders can reach the manufacturer if needed, whether to file complaints, make inquiries, or conduct market surveillance activities. In addition to a physical address, an electronic means of contact, such as an email address or an official website, must be provided.

  1. Upload Documents: Under the GPSR, manufacturers are required to maintain and provide access to essential documentation that supports the safety and compliance of their products. This documentation serves as a vital resource for market surveillance authorities, enabling them to assess whether products meet the required safety standards and comply with regulatory obligations. Manufacturers must develop and retain comprehensive technical documentation that includes a detailed general description of the product.

  1. Responsible Person: Under the GPSR, manufacturers placing products on the EU market must designate a Responsible Person to ensure ongoing compliance with safety regulations. This individual or entity serves as the key point of contact for authorities and plays a critical role in safeguarding product safety and traceability throughout the product's lifecycle. The Responsible Person must be clearly identified and authorized to act on behalf of the manufacturer. They may be the manufacturer themselves, an importer, a distributor who assumes these responsibilities, or any appointed representative established within the EU. This role involves verifying that the required technical documentation has been properly prepared and maintained. The Responsible Person must also ensure that the product bears the necessary conformity markings and that all essential manufacturer details are accurately provided on the product or its accompanying documentation. Additionally, they must check that the product is accompanied by clear and understandable instructions and safety information for consumers in the local language.

  1. Product Safety: Under the GPSR, product safety is required, ensuring that consumer products placed on the EU market do not pose a risk to health and safety when used as intended or in reasonably foreseeable conditions. Manufacturers are obligated to design, produce, and market products that meet stringent safety criteria, reflecting a comprehensive approach to hazard mitigation and consumer protection. Clear and detailed instructions for use, as well as safety warnings, must accompany the product to guide consumers in safe handling. This information should be presented in a language easily understood by consumers in the country where the product is marketed.

Once all these details for a product have been updated, you can review them under the same section of GPSR.

2. Product-wise

  1. Navigate to the Products section and click on the Manage Products tab.

  1. Locate the product you want to update and click the Actions menu next to it.
  2. From the dropdown list, select Edit.
  3. In the editing page that opens, click on the GPSR tab.
  4. Choose your account and enter the required GPSR details for the product.
