Profile

Profile

The Profile feature in the PrestaShop AliExpress Connector replaces the older “Category Template” functionality.
Profiles control how your products are listed, categorized, and optimized on AliExpress. They define:

  • Category mapping to align PrestaShop products with AliExpress categories.

  • Title optimization rules for SEO-friendly product titles.

  • Attribute mappings to ensure product details match AliExpress requirements.

  • Rules to group and assign products automatically to the right profile.

By using profiles, you can apply consistent rules to multiple products, ensuring listings are accurate, optimized, and compliant.

Profile Grid – Managing Profiles

When you go to AliExpress Connector → Profile, you will see the Profile List Grid.

What You See in the Grid

  • Name: The profile name you created.

  • Category Name: The AliExpress category linked to the profile.

  • Rule(s): Conditions defined for product assignment.

  • Total Product(s) Affected: How many products are currently using this profile.

  • Actions:

    • Edit: Modify the profile.

    • Delete: Remove the profile (products will default to the standard profile).

💡 Tip: The grid also shows the total number of profiles created.

What Profiles Do

  • Map PrestaShop attributes to AliExpress-required fields.

  • Apply bulk rules for pricing, title formatting, and attribute mapping.

  • Assign products automatically using conditions (rules).

  • Optimize product listings for better visibility on AliExpress.

How to create a New Profile?

Step 1: Naming a New Profile

To create a new profile:

  1. Go to AliExpress Connector → Profile.

  2. Click Add New Profile (top right).

  3. You will be taken to the Profile Creation page, which has multiple tabs:

    • Profile Info

    • Price Rule

    • Rule Groups

    • Category Attribute Mapping

1. Profile Info

In this tab, you define basic profile details:

  • Profile Name:

    • Enter a unique name (max 80 characters) to identify the profile easily.

  • Title Optimization:

    • Select which product fields (e.g., Brand, Reference, Tags, Supplier Name, Category) should be included in the title for AliExpress.

    • You can also add keywords to improve product discoverability.

💡 Note: If no rules are defined, the connector uses the default PrestaShop product title.

Step 2: How to Configure the Price Rule?

The Price Rule tab allows you to set up dynamic pricing adjustments for your AliExpress listings. This helps you control margins by applying automatic price changes when products sync from PrestaShop to AliExpress.

2.1 Custom Price Rule

  • Custom Price Rule Dropdown:
Choose how you want to adjust product prices:

    • None – No price adjustment; original PrestaShop price is used.

    • Fixed Increment – Increases the product price by a fixed amount (e.g., +5).

    • Fixed Decrement – Decreases the price by a fixed amount (e.g., -2).

    • Percent Increment – Increases the price by a percentage (e.g., +10%).

    • Percent Decrement – Decreases the price by a percentage (e.g., -15%).

  • Value Field:
Enter the amount or percentage based on your selection.

2.2 Applying Price Rules

  • Price Rule to be Applied On:
You can apply the rule to:

    • Regular Price – Standard selling price of the product.

    • Sale Price – Discounted or promotional price.

💡 Tip:
If the calculated sale price after applying the rule exceeds the regular price, the connector will adjust accordingly to ensure pricing remains valid.

Why Use Price Rules?

  • Maintain profit margins when marketplace fees or conversion rates vary.

  • Automate bulk pricing adjustments instead of manually editing products.

  • Easily implement promotions or category-based pricing strategies.

Step 3: How to Assign Products to the Profile?

Understanding Rule Groups

The Rule Groups tab allows you to define conditions that determine which products from your PrestaShop store will be assigned to this profile. This ensures that only the products matching your rules are uploaded with the defined settings.

3.1 Rule Groups Overview

You can create rule groups to:

  • Filter products based on specific attributes.

  • Automatically assign matching products to the profile.

  • Manage products at scale without manually selecting them.

3.2 Key Options in Rule Groups

  • Override Existing Product

    • Enable this if you want to reassign products already linked to another profile.

    • This ensures your new rules take precedence.

  • Product Must Match

    • Any Condition: Products matching at least one rule will be assigned.

    • All Conditions: Products must satisfy all defined rules to be included.

3.3 Adding Conditions

You can define multiple rules using filters such as:

  • Title – Filter by product name.

  • PrestaShop Category – Include products from specific categories.

  • Quantity – Filter based on available stock.

  • Price – Filter by product price.

  • Product Type – Filter simple vs. variant products.

  • PrestaShop Brand – Filter based on brand.

Example:

  • Rule 1: Title equals "A"

  • Rule 2: Price equals "50"

  • Rule 3: Product Type equals "Simple"

3.4 Managing Rules

  • Add More: Add multiple rules within the same group.

  • Delete: Remove any rule you no longer need.

  • Run Query: Click to preview how many products match your selected rules before saving.

3.5 Why Rule Groups Matter

  • Automatically groups products based on dynamic conditions.

  • Ensures new products meeting the rules are auto-assigned to the profile.

  • Reduces manual assignment and minimizes errors.

Step 4: How to use the Category Attribute Mapping feature to finalize the Profile?

The Category Attribute Mapping tab is the most critical step when creating or editing a profile. This is where you link your PrestaShop product attributes to AliExpress-required fields to ensure successful product uploads.

4.1 Why Category Mapping is Crucial?

  • The selected AliExpress category determines which attributes will be available for mapping.

  • Proper mapping ensures your products meet AliExpress compliance requirements and prevents upload errors.

  • Incorrect or missing attribute mappings may cause product rejection or visibility issues.

4.2 Selecting AliExpress Product Category

  • Use the search bar to quickly find the most relevant AliExpress category.

  • Start typing keywords (e.g., "Shirt") to get category suggestions.

  • Example:
Sports & Entertainment > Fishing > Fishing Apparel > Fishing Shirt

Notes (as per UI):

  • Use the first few characters to locate the category quickly.

  • Changing the category resets mapped fields, so review attributes after making changes.

  • All products assigned to this profile will be listed under the selected AliExpress category.

4.3 How to Map AliExpress Attributes to PrestaShop Attributes?

Once a category is selected, the UI displays four attribute sections:

A. Required Attributes

These are mandatory and must be mapped to avoid upload failures.

  • Examples:

    • Material

    • Gender

    • Package Length/Width/Height/Weight

    • EAN Code

    • Shipping Template ID

Steps to find and enter Shipping Template ID

To get the shipping template ID, click the blue redirect icon to open your AliExpress seller central.

In the Template ID column, locate the template you want to link and copy its ID as shown in the screenshot above.

Alternatively, you can also create a new template, and similarly copy its ID to link it with the app.

Enter/ Paste this ID in the Required Attributes section to ensure smooth syncing of shipping details.

And you're done!

Mapping Types Available:

  • Fixed – Enter a constant value (e.g., “Cotton” for Material).

  • Attribute – Pull dynamic values from your PrestaShop product data.

Action:

  • Map all required attributes before proceeding. Missing any will trigger errors.

B. Product Qualification Attributes (GPSR Compliance)

These fields are specific to regulatory compliance and include:

  • EU Responsible

  • Manufacturer Info

  • Compliance Certificates (e.g., US FDA, CE Mark)

As with the shipping template ID, click the blue redirect icon to open the page shown below.

Copy the Name of the EU Responsible Person and paste it into the field provided in the app.

For Manufacturer Info, follow the same steps [refer to the screenshot below] and enter the Manufacturer Information Name in the respective field.

Now move on to  Variation Attributes

C. Variation Attributes

For products with variants (e.g., size, color):

  • Map variation attributes so AliExpress recognizes variants correctly.

  • Example:

    • Color → Attribute (Color)

    • Size → Attribute (Size)

Options Mapping:

  • Use this to align PrestaShop values with AliExpress-accepted values.

  • Example: Map PrestaShop “S” → AliExpress “Small”.

These are not mandatory but boost product SEO and discoverability:

  • Model Number

  • Pattern Type

  • Origin

  • Description

  • Additional Attributes

💡 Tip: Filling these optional fields helps products rank better and improves buyer experience.

4.4 Important Highlights

  • Blue Alert (Top of the Section): Reminds you to map all required attributes to avoid upload errors.

  • “IMPORTANT” Labels: Mark sections like Product Qualification that need extra attention.

  • Attribute Value Dropdowns: Allow you to select from predefined AliExpress values where applicable.

4.5 Finalizing the Mapping

  1. Complete all Required, Variation, and Compliance mappings.

  2. (Optional) Map Recommended Attributes for enhanced listing quality.

  3. Click Save to store the attribute mappings.

Once saved, this profile ensures:

  • Products assigned to it will always upload under the correct category.

  • Attributes remain correctly mapped unless the category is changed.

End of Profile Creation Workflow

After completing Profile Info, Price Rules, Rule Groups, and Category Attribute Mapping, your profile is ready.
Products assigned to this profile will:

  • Upload with the mapped attributes.

  • Follow any defined pricing and title optimization rules.

  • Remain compliant with AliExpress requirements.

Summary of the Profile Creation & Management Workflow

  1. Profile Info:

    • Assign a unique profile name.

    • Configure title optimization using PrestaShop fields (brand, category, tags, etc.).

    • Add keywords to improve product visibility.

  2. Price Rule:

    • Apply dynamic pricing (fixed or percentage increase/decrease).

    • Choose whether to apply the rule to regular prices, sale prices, or both.

  3. Rule Groups:

    • Create filters to auto-assign products to the profile (by category, price, product type, etc.).

    • Use Any Condition (OR logic) or All Conditions (AND logic).

    • Override existing product profiles when necessary.

  4. Category Attribute Mapping:

    • Select the correct AliExpress category for products.

    • Map Required Attributes to avoid upload errors.

    • Ensure compliance by mapping Product Qualification (GPSR) attributes.

    • Map Variation Attributes (size, color) and use Options Mapping for value alignment.

    • Fill in Recommended Attributes to improve SEO and discoverability.

What are the Best Practices for Creating Profiles?

  • Create separate profiles for different product categories to manage attributes effectively.

  • Always map required attributes first; leaving any blank will cause listing failures.

  • Use fixed values for attributes that remain the same across products (e.g., brand, manufacturer).

  • Leverage Rule Groups to auto-assign new products, minimizing manual work.

  • Update compliance attributes regularly to meet AliExpress regulations (especially for food, cosmetics, or regulated items).

  • Optimize product titles with keywords and attributes to boost search rankings on AliExpress.

  • Test price rules on a few products before applying them across a large catalog.

  • Regularly review profiles if AliExpress updates attribute requirements or if you add new product categories.

By following these steps and best practices, you ensure that every product uploaded through the connector is optimized, compliant, and marketplace-ready.

How to Manage Existing Profiles?

Once profiles are created, you can edit or delete them anytime to keep your product mapping rules optimized.

Editing a Profile

  1. Go to AliExpress Connector → Profile.

  2. Locate the profile you want to modify in the grid.

  3. Click the Edit icon.

  4. You should update:

    • Profile Info (title rules, name)

    • Price Rules (adjust margins or strategy)

    • Rule Groups (change filters for product assignment)

    • Category Attribute Mapping (update to match new AliExpress requirements)

  5. Click Save to apply changes.

Deleting a Profile

  • Use the Delete button from the Action column.

  • Products linked to a deleted profile will automatically fall back to the Default Profile to ensure they remain active and properly listed on AliExpress.

💡 Tip: Review affected products after deleting a profile to confirm they’re using the right configuration.

What is the Default Profile?

The Default Profile acts as a fallback configuration for any product that does not match conditions in other profiles.

  • It is automatically created during installation.

  • It cannot be deleted but can be edited to set basic attribute mappings and rules.

  • Any product not assigned to a custom profile will use the Default Profile settings for listing on AliExpress.

💡 Best Practice: Keep the Default Profile updated with correct mappings to prevent product listing errors.

How to Map Variants accurately?

For products with size, color, or other variations, AliExpress often requires standardized attribute values. The Options Mapping feature ensures your PrestaShop values match AliExpress-accepted values.

How to Use Options Mapping

  1. While in the Category Attribute Mapping tab, locate a variation attribute (e.g., Color, Size).

  2. Click on Options Mapping for that attribute.

  3. The mapping window will display:

    • Left Column: PrestaShop attribute values (e.g., "S", "M", "L").

    • Right Column: AliExpress-accepted values (e.g., "Small", "Medium", "Large").

  4. Match each PrestaShop value with the correct AliExpress value.

  5. Click Save to confirm.

💡 Why It Matters: Without proper options mapping, products with variants may be rejected or displayed incorrectly on AliExpress.
