About Product Templates

The Product Templates section allows you to create, manage, and assign templates to your products for smoother syncing with Facebook Catalog. Templates define how product data is mapped, categorized, and uploaded to Facebook.

Template List

This page displays all templates you’ve created, along with their details:
  1. Template Name – The name you assign to each template.
  2. Rules – Conditions that determine which products are included in the template.
  3. Product(s) Assigned – Number of products linked to the template.
  4. Category – The Facebook category where these products will be mapped.
  5. Action – Manage templates with the following options:
    1. View – Preview template settings and assigned products.
    2. Edit – Update template rules, mapping, or assigned category.
    3. Delete – Remove the template (cannot be undone).

Key Actions

  1. Create Template:
    1. Build a new product template by setting rules, categories, and mappings.
    2. Ideal for organizing different product groups (e.g., Clothing, Electronics, Home Décor).
  2. Refresh Template(s):
    1. Updates product template assignments in the event of changes to the Shopify catalog or template rules.
  3. Search Bar:
    1. Quickly find a template by name, especially useful when managing multiple templates.

Template Management Best Practices

  1. Category Mapping – Always assign products to the most accurate Facebook category to improve ad targeting and product visibility.
  2. Multiple Templates – Use different templates for different product types (e.g., Apparel, Footwear, Accessories). This ensures each product group has the correct attributes for Facebook Ads and Catalog.
  3. Rule-Based Assignment – Instead of assigning products manually, set rules (like tags, product type, vendor) to automate template assignment.
Notes
Review and refresh templates regularly, especially after adding new products, to ensure they’re assigned to the right Facebook categories.
